I don’t think easier access to alcohol causes more drunk driving. People that drink will find alcohol easily.

I think lack of access to public transportation is a much bigger problem.

Drinking and Driving is illegal and there are laws on the books about this, right? Where in the numbers does it state that there is a given percentage of people who will break these laws just because they have greater access to a legal substance? What does this at all have to do with legal acquisition of alcohol or legal use of alcohol, which as proposed this system accomplishes? Nothing. Your neo-prohibitionist ideals are far off base with reality. There is nothing wrong with the legal responsible use of liquor at all.

Predatory lawyers are much more dangerous than LEDs. Trying to find any reason you can to sue people. Stop signs get coated with snow too. The simple fact is that when you are driving in a snow storm, you simply need to be very careful.

Show some real statistics. How many people have died due to this over the last ten years? 500,000 have died in cars since then. Don’t go blaming LED lights. Red LEDs have been around since 1995. Not seeing a red is the only danger (driving through a green light isn’t dangerous.) Give me real numbers.

Excellent coverage. I appreciate the resources that you linked out to – especially the FBI list. I was not aware of that document, and like you say it provides an excellent check list of things to do and not do.

Having worked with elderly folks before who have been taken advantage of, I am acutely aware of the kind of heartbreak and stress that follows both for the individual and the family. I wish this weren’t such a prevalent concern in our society – but its better to be realistic about it then blindly ignorant.

Thank you! This is really important. My husband rides a motorcycle to work and I’m often nervous. My brother-in-law is recovering from a very serious accident in which a driver did not see him on his motorcycle and pulled out right in front of him. I think your recommendation to ride as though you are invisible to other motorists is especially good. Thanks for spreading the word!

Great tips to follow! I know of so many children who have ended up with broken bones and concussions because they weren’t being careful while climbing on a playground.
